Marsa Day Care Centre

Aretrop Limited Designs and Furnishes New Marsa Day Care Centre

MARSA, MALTA – The Marsa Local Council has officially opened a new Day Care Centre for the elderly, a project made possible with the help of Norway Grants. The centre, located within the Marsa Local Council building, aims to serve as a vital communal hub for senior citizens, providing a safe and welcoming environment for those who often find themselves isolated.

The need for this centre is particularly pressing in Marsa, where the population is rapidly aging—a trend seen across many localities, but especially pronounced in the Inner Harbour Region. The council recognized an obligation to provide a space that offers dignity and respect to its senior citizens but was previously held back by a lack of funding.

The transformation of the space was entrusted to Aretrop Limited, which was contracted to design and furnish the centre. Since the council premises, built in 2014, already had the necessary facilities, Aretrop’s work focused on creating a homely ambiance through thoughtful furnishing and design. The company has a strong reputation for delivering high-quality solutions, and their work on this project has created a space that is both functional and comfortable, setting a new standard for elderly care facilities in Malta.

A variety of activities will be offered at the centre, including educational events, health and safety talks, nutrition workshops, crafts, and computer skills training. These informal and unstructured activities, such as games and talks, are designed to create an enriching social environment. The council plans to gauge the interests of attendees to expand on topics and ensure the centre meets the needs of its community. The Marsa Local Council will also collaborate with ministries and NGOs to provide these services, ensuring the project’s sustainability without significant financial burden.

The long-term goal of this initiative is to improve the quality of life for Marsa’s elders by targeting social exclusion and offering opportunities for lifelong learning and physical activity. By providing a warm and inviting space, the Day Care Centre aims to become a cornerstone of the community, offering invaluable support to both the elderly residents and their families.

The new Day Care Centre stands as a testament to Marsa’s commitment to its senior citizens, providing a beautiful and functional space where they can thrive.
